Can I keep driving if my transmission is acting up?
It depends on the symptoms.
If the transmission is severely slipping, won’t go into gear, is stuck in one gear, or is making significant grinding or banging noises, continuing to drive could make the problem worse or leave you stranded.

Why is my vehicle stuck in one gear?
A vehicle that stays in one gear may have entered limp mode, which is designed to protect the vehicle when the computer detects a problem.
Several things can cause this, so the next step is to diagnose the cause rather than assume the transmission has failed.
Does a slipping transmission mean I need a rebuild?
Not necessarily.
Transmission slipping is a symptom. We need to determine what’s causing it before recommending a repair.
